The ocean prediction system for Hawaii utilizes SSI’s expertise in ocean modeling and geophysical fluid dynamics to provide a forecasting capability for regions around the state of Hawaii.

 

The forecasting system includes surface waves, tides, daily atmospheric forcing, storm events, and mesoscale circulation features.

 

The prediction system is dynamic and does not rely on historical data or the blending of present oceanographic conditions and the statistical analyses of historical ocean conditions.
